Essential Laminate Floor Renovation Tips

One of the best features of laminate flooring is that there is very little maintenance and repair that is required. When you do need to give it some attention, however, these laminate floor renovation tips may come in useful.

Renovating and Fixing Minor Damage

Although laminate flooring is often very durable, you may occasionally need to renovate, or fix minor damage.

One of the easiest laminate floor renovation tips is to use a filler product bought from any hardware store, in order to fix chips or dents in a plank. Ensure that you clean the area first, before applying the putty, or wax to fill the hole.

Gaining Access to A Damaged Plank

If you need to gain access to a particular plank, then one method is to remove the shoe moulding that is running along the baseboard, carefully prying it up as you will need to replace this after the work is finished.

Once the shoe moulding has been removed, it will give you enough space to remove the plank nearest to the wall. A recommended practice is to number each plank as you remove it, as you will then know the exact order in which to place them back.

Cutting and Replacing A Plank

If you have a particularly large floor, or are looking for a faster method than removing each of the planks individually and re-installing them, one of our top laminate floor renovation tips is to cut out the damaged section instead. This is also the best technique if you have glued laminate flooring, as it will be nearly impossible to remove the planks individually.

There are many more laminate floor renovation tips, so with some extra research and reading you can find even more ways of keeping your flooring looking its very best.
